This book has a lot of great tunes and I enjoyed learning them.However, a word of warning: some of the tunes go rather far into the upper register. The Star Wars theme makes a fair bit of use of g above the staff. Younger players may not have the range to play a lot of the tunes.

I bought this for my eleven year old. We bought it for the cantina song, but it includes pretty much all of the scores. He was so excited to play it but it was too advanced for his skill level. It's definitely a keeper and he'll try it later when he's more advanced.

My daughter has been paying violin for about a year or more and really wanted to play songs from her favorite movie world. The other books we looked at were far to advanced for her, and there area few songs in here that she isn't ready for yet, but others she learned all on her own and surprised her teacher with them. She is thrilled. She is at the beginning of Suzuki book 2 for level reference.

Son loves star wars and has attempted to play many songs on it.It is a beginners to mediate book, he has been playing for 2 years and is catching on

My daughter loved getting this for Christmas and was playing most of the songs on her violin the same day. Has all the great Star Wars classic John Williams songs.

i chose to rate this book 5 stars because it is cool and has all the songs of star wars but some of the songs are very cool and it almost has every theme song like yoda's theme and the most favorite song of some of us is the cantina band and the most favorite thing is playing the songs on the trumpet if you buy it i will know you will like it. so i will recommend it to all star wars fans out there who play the trumpet.!!!

Be forewarned that the key signatures are "band keys," heavy on flats. This is not accessible for a beginning string student, who learns sharp notes first. It would be a fun book for a more advanced player though.

My 3 yr old enjoys learning about the different rituals and traditions and talking about them with us. I like that this book doesn't focus too intently on one particular religious practice -- we prefer to give our child exposure to different spiritual ideas without pushing one in particular.

Lovely! As a non-religious person, it is important for me and my family to find alternative ways to recognize spring and all the many ways to celebrate it.

These Equiox and the Solstice books are cute and fun to read, at the end of the book are crafts and ideas to do with your children for the Equinox. I also like all the history it has in it, I learned quite a bit myself!! :)

I liked the short tale at the end and the page that explains the science of what makes the seasons change.Overall, I found this book too boring to hold the attention of my kids. I expected some fun ideas for the season and the book didn't include any.Some of the facts were fun and the author nicely tied them to modern day."Romans gave presents to their friends and relatives, like we do now at Christmas." The pictures were also nice and bright.This book is completely non-denominational, which is a nice change but not what I expected from the title and description. Sadly, I was kind of hoping that this book would be a good introduction to Yule for kids. It is not!The part about sacrificing llamas made my kids angry. I don't really like that they now have to bring that one point up every time we mention Yule.While this book isn't a total waste, it is not at all what I had hoped for. I look forward to seeing good books that will actually explain the old holidays to kids. This book just doesn't do it.

Fun short stories about various traditions associated with the vernal equinox. A wonderful introduction into the traditions and rituals of various cultures. Hopefully it will serve as a springboard to a more involved examinations of these intricate and fascinating cultural practices.

My son has family members that celebrate both Christian and Pagan holidays. I found this book and others are a great way to put all of our traditions in a historical and equal light. We've been reading it since he was four but I recommend it for 1st graders and older doing a few pages a night.

I have never written an Amazon review before, but that is because I have never been so disappointed. That is because Amazon appears to have started using a different publisher for this book just at the beginning of this month, but kept all of the reviews and ratings from the previous publisher. This copy is absolute TRASH. The typeset is so terrible that it renders the book practically unreadable. They literally cut some words off in the middle and then print them in the middle of the next page. Some paragraphs are segmented into a number of chunks that follow no rhyme or reason. Not to mention the numerous typos throughout. I simply do not understand how this is acceptable.(Note: At the time of this review, the publisher is currently listed as: Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (March 3, 2018) )

Ernest Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms" is one of the books I have re-read the most throughout my life, along with Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises," Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" and "Under Western Eyes" and Joyce's "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man." In many ways, it is to me, as 'perfect' as any novel I have ever read. Its structure is flawless, the characters unforgettable, and the writing is bold and terse, hard and yielding all at the same time. I never fail to learn something new each time I read this wonderful work of art. If I was to teach a class on how to write a novel, this would be the book I would assign to my class.The Hemingway Library Edition of "A Farewell to Arms" I received as a gift also came with an Appendix that included the thirty-nine other endings Hemingway considered for the novel. Many are quite telling and a two were used in the serialized versions that appeared in Scribner magazines before the actual publication of the book. I simply love this book.

This is my favorite novel. I am a huge fan of Hemingway's "Never use a large word, where a simple word will work," writing style. If you're unfamiliar with this, take a look inside to see what I mean. The style is slow, and relatively uneventful.This is not a book for children. They could read it, but would perhaps miss many of the main themes. There is certainly rampant alcohol-use throughout the book.I love the book because Hemingway won't give the reader the ending they're expecting. He forces the reader to consider the the book over and over again. I may be simply written, and not for the Shakespearean-read scholar, but enjoyable and steady.

While I have read the story before and it is amazing, this book was an absolute waste of money. I spent the money expecting to get the entire book yet I only received half as if the publisher decided I can do this and sell a lot more. There we multiple typos too many to count. The final issue was there were no page numbers. after buying this book for a college course I was disappointed that this was a waste of time and money. I would recommend looking for a pdf copy off of Google or perhaps go to your local library it is much more useful than buying this particular group.

Though retired now and with all the books I have read it occurred to me that the only Hemmingway I had tried was an audio of Old Man And The Sea. Across The River and Into the Trees’ appeared to be a good place to start, it was. The introduction by Acino Acinonyx almost made me put this Kindle version away for a later time both because it was apparent nobody had read the introduction, corrected the flaws made during conversion, or checked the facts, which were very often wrong and contradictory. Skip that part, it isn’t worth your time.As for the novel itself, I enjoyed it. It is more about the characters than any deep story but the plot twists move you along at a decent pace. I had read about Hemmingway’s “ice berg” style, which is very interesting, but what really appealed to me is how this ebbed and flowed without the drastic actions found in many of our current day novels. As a writer I know that that isn’t an easy thing to do. I also know that today’s writers often focus on the story while Hemmingway’s characters become real, you know them well by the end of the book.I’m not saying that the current crop of writers are bad, Hemmingway is just different and different from the old “classic” authors in that this is not a series of scenes which may or may not be related. He strips out side stories and keeps you moving though you are not sure to where.I highly recommend you read this, especially if you are a writer and even if you have read Hemmingway before without satisfaction. This is a very good read.

Ernest Hemingway really was a great writer. His plain-spoken style is symbolic of the main character's values, as well as his own.This novel will shred you to pieces. Hemingway was trying to communicate a specific emotion with this novel -somewhere between hope, hopelessness, and numbness- and he really achieves it. Behind this novel is the plain and constant shock of modern warfare, and the strange way that affects men's minds, for better or worse.Beautiful novel. I liked this book of four essays. It is very well written. The author gives thoughtful explanations on several types of still life from low to high and also provides historical context as well as a bit of literary criticism. I am a museum docent, and I refer to this book over and over especially when i am preparing to give a still life tour. Perhaps it is because I am drawn to still life paintings, but it never gets tiring, and I am given fresh eyes to appreciate this genre. Although, I will say that the book is limited to the western canon up to perhaps the 20th century.

I used this as the basis for an hour tour at a major encyclopedic museum. Great read.

I was looking for something that would take me on a musing tour through various paintings. Too technical and analytical for my reading needs. Maybe more insight into the writers intention needs to be part of the adverts.

There is not much literature available on the subject of still life painting that goes beyond the obvious surface information. This is the first review of the history of still life painting which reexamines the human implications of different still life ideas throughout history. The four essays are in depth explorations of the challenging questions asked by seemingly ordinary subject matter and the formal ways in which artists engage these concepts. I wish I would have known about this book years ago.

If you're wavering on your decision to purchase this work, just go for it. I took a seminar from Professor Bryson one semester, and let me tell you, this man simply exists on a whole different intellectual level. He constantly confronts and re-perceives art and artistic theory, pushing your mind to process visual information in radically different ways.

In many american universities there is a sharp division between the classic art historians and the linguistics-inclined post modernists. Bryson's range encompasses both.
