About the Author

Zbigniew Romanowicz, Ph.D., was an outstanding teacher and a well-known proponent of mathematics among young people. He belonged to the great Russian-Polish school of mathematics. He served as Director of the Institute of Mathematics at the Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland. In the years 1992-2004, he chaired the jury of the Polish Mathematics and Logic Games championship, which is within the works of the Paris-based 'Comite International des Jeux Mathematiques'. He ran the popularly acclaimed interscholastic math clubs. For 10 years, he was chairman of the Committee of Regional Mathematical Olympiads. He was an avid promoter of mathematics and an activist of the Polish Mathematical Society. Bartholomew Dyda, Eng. D., a graduate of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology at the Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland, is working at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Wroclaw University of Technology. Since 1992 he competes in the Mathematical and Logic Games championships, achieving considerable success. He is a two-time recipient of the bronze medal at the International Championship of Mathematical and Logical Games in Paris, France.

Somewhat, 100 Math Brainteasers is unsuitable for most students from grade 7 to 10 (or any grade for that matter).The reason is that the problems are too damn hard for them. They have to be really good in math in order to do well in them. Of course, the solutions in the back of the book are instructional, but frustration can kill their spirit after trying several problems, causing them to give up. The students need to feel that they can do it, and I don't see 100 Math Brainteasers being this kind of a book. For the record, I was only able to correctly solve 75% of the problems.On other hand, it's a pretty good book for those who are mathematically talented and are capable problem solvers. The problems presented provide a good training for math contests and whatever else. There is a lot of value in working through them.I am giving the book a point off for how the solutions were presented. For some problems, I was able to find a simple solution, but the authors made their own in a very convoluted way (this would occur many times). For a couple of problems, I was not able to understand how the authors arrived at the solutions and still haven't.All in all, 100 Math Brainteasers is a good practice for those who are mathematically inclined, but it's certainly not for most students in grade 7 to 10.Check out my YouTube videos of similar problems to the book by googling "Mr. Math Expert Math Olympiad Contest Problems for Elementary and Middle Schools," "Mr. Math Expert Selected Math Puzzles," and "Mr. Math Expert Math League" for more practice.

Fascinating set of problems that will force most people to think hard. There are a couple of typos here and there -- not a big deal. A couple of problems where the solution uses constrained that I do not see stated in the problem. But overall, a great set of problems to make anybody think.My daughter is finishing 7th grade, and she had algebra this year at school. She is needing quite a bit of help making her way through the problems. I feel that many of the problems are beyond the capability of most 7th graders. So perhaps the levels are not quite calibrated. Other than that, its a fantastic collection of problem that are fun for the family to solve together!

This is an enjoyable collection of puzzles, marred by low publishing standards.On the positive side, it's a varied mix of original problems, divided into five sections such as equations, geometry, and integers. Some take just a flash of insight, others require sharpening your pencil. Anyone with a casual interest in math will probably enjoy them; if you have a college degree in math, this book probably won't be enough of a challenge.But: Navigation on Kindle is terrible. Answers are not text, but an image of the text. To find an answer you must go to the contents, then to the answers, then page through; you can't search. Furthermore, this text is too small to read easily; if you enlarge it, it just gets blurry. I found it best to answer a half-dozen questions, then make my way to the solutions section.The book apparently was translated from Polish. Phrasing (especially in the solutions) is sometimes convoluted, and occasionally ambiguous.

I would say a majority of the problems are for high school level students who have more experience problem solving. Only my most advanced 7th grade students could figure out the easier problems and then my most advanced 8th graders could figure out just past the easier problems. Cute graphics and short problems but definitely difficult for average middle schoolers.

Well thought out teasers. None of them very easy. Designed to expand thought processes. I think a bit difficult for 7th and 8th graders. I will use it on a regular basis to challenge my grandkids.

These brainteasers were HARD. I am just going into High School and I could only do a few of them that were at the beginning. I got some of the easier ones, and then I had to get help.

There are some really advanced problems in there! I buy my puzzle books looking to use about 1/3 easy/medium for my high school students, most who are not academically sound but are curious enough for brainteasers. This fits my 1/3 quota and is interesting enough to pique their interest.

This book provided some really good exercises. We used in to add enrichment and additional practice for students during our summer program. Students liked the tasks.

Su good! And so far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right? Of course they do!I hope to either purchase more in this series or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.I received this product at a discount for my honest and unbiased review. This seems to be only the beginning of a story. After I finished this, I noticed that there were additional downloads available from the author, a total of 6. This installment starts with Sarah and Robert, both from affluent families at a (assumed prestigious) law school. Sarah, however, is very eager and studious, while Robert is a slacker who slides through with his money. The story seems to be very fast paced, and it will be interesting to see how the next installment ts okay. Their verbal exchanges go from derisive to list full pretty quickly, with this installment ending at some interrupted intimacy. The writing style has a very "fan-fiction" quality to it, and while it doesn't really detract from the story it is a specific style that some might not like. This is the first of a six part series. This book is a short read, about thirty minutes to an hour, depending on how fast you read. The antagonists in this book come from two different worlds, yet they are the same. Both characters are tired of being told what to do, yet Sarah is going to school because it is what she wants contrary to what her dad wants. Rob is going but has decided that he is going to live his life for himself. The book ends on a great cliffhanger and I can not wait to read the next installment. I would say that this is for an older teenager due to the content, though.Recommend this to a friend? Took me a little long than I anticipated to write this review but as a single mom of two it took me longer to read this book than I anticipated. Lol! I will say that I am absolutely addicted to this series! I don't want to ruin any of the plot to this book so I will keep my review pretty generic because as an avid reader myself I HATE spoilers, but I will say that this is a very well written series with perfect plot progression, it's a easy read that flows well and the characters are very well established. It's for sure my favorite romantic novel series. Very "50 shades" like which for me is amazing! The writing is done so well that your mind "sees" the story as you read it! I recieved the entire series free on my kindle in exchange for my honest review, which for kindle download it's free anyhow, but just for the sake of complete honesty I wanted to disclose that.
